A Traveller's Guide in Preparation for a Cruise Holiday

You have been waiting for this opportunity your whole entire life! You have worked so hard to make your dream of seeing the world and explore every corner of it a reality. And now, all of your hard works have paid off. In just a couple of months, you will be boarding in one of those princess cruises brisbane for a couple of weeks of pure fun and total relaxation. The excitement cannot be put into words and the smile on your face cannot be erased as you think of how near your travel date is.

But before you hop on that glorious ship, you might want to spend a couple of days here on land to make sure that everything is in order. This task may sound a bit dreadful for your excited spirit but there is no way out of it. You need to do this to ensure that your trip is nothing but a pure relaxation. To help you deal with this, here are some tips that you might find handy:

GENERAL

  1. Inform your family and friends about your trip. It is best that you leave them with your itinerary and the important numbers that they can call to reach you. Travelling without the knowledge of anybody close to you is a big no-no.
  2. Check your passport and other travel documents. Make sure that they should not expire within the next six months. This is very important if your trip includes visiting other countries. Aside from that, make sure that you photocopy two to three copies of them and keep them in different places in your luggage. You might also want to bring two more ID's to prove your identity.
  3. A couple of days before you leave, have all your electrical wirings and plumbings checked by professionals. Remember that you will be out for a couple of weeks, so you need to make sure that there are no drips and leaks on your water supply and all of your electrical lines are still in their best condition to avoid any kind of mishap that may happen while you are gone.
  4. Contact someone who can look after your home for you. Maybe you can ask your neighbour to keep an eye or perhaps you can ask your sibling or your closest friend to stay at your place on the duration of your trip. But remember to entrust the care to someone you really know.
  5. Take care all of your bills. Pay all the things that is due within the next few weeks. If your notifications have not arrived yet, you might want to pay the company a call. Surely, they will be very much pleased to help you out.
  6. You might also want to replenish some of your goods but buy the ones that are not perishable. It is always comforting that you arrive home with nothing to think about like what to eat on that night and the like.
  7. Keep track of your house keys. Always leave some duplicate somewhere hidden just in case you will lose yours. You can leave some of them to your relatives too.

PACKING

Unlike any other form of travel, a cruise often includes a number of different activities that you can do while on board which makes this part of the preparation more daunting than ever.

But here are some things that you might want to remember:

  1. Bringing a little bit of everything may not be good for some travels but in this case, it is preferred. You can cram in your suitcase some wet gear as you may want to try out different water sports. Something formal will also be a good addition in your suitcase as there are events that you can attend to that will require a stricter dress code. For your casual wear, go for garments that are made of light materials like cotton. Pack a couple pair of shoes too. The great thing about being on board in one of the Princess Cruises Brisbane is that there is no baggage limit. But still, it is ideal that you pack lightly.
  2. Bring all of your beach essentials. A sunscreen lotion, wide-brim hat, your flattering swimwear and a sarong too. You might want to leave your towels as they are provided on the ship.
  3. There are maybe a lot of activities that you can do while on your trip but it is ideal that you still bring with you a couple of things that can keep you busy. Maybe it is about time that you go back to writing and begin to fill in your journal's empty pages. You can also crack open a new book to help you fall asleep at night.
  4. Do not forget to bring your first aid kit. Wherever you go, this should be the first thing that you need to pack. Although there is a clinic on the ship, it is best that you provide your own medicine. You can include a couple of pills for diarrhoea and allergies, some paracetamol, band aids and wound cleansing solution and maybe a couple of tablets for sea sickness.

MORE TIPS

  1. Speaking of motion sickness, you might want to do prior research on how to prevent it. This can be such a hassle and can even ruin your whole vacation. Aside from seeking help through the Internet, you can ask your doctors for insights.
  2. A couple of days before you go on board, it is a must that you read all the rules and regulations of the cruise once again. Make sure that you have all the necessary things that you need and you do not take with you something that is prohibited.
  3. Lastly, do not forget to bring your camera. Immortalise every moment in your trip by capturing them on film.

Now, all of those things are a lot to digest so it is best that you make a list of all those things to keep you on track. And after all of these, you will be set and very much ready to take on the adventure! Savour every second while you are in the ship and live your dreams!
